Gas Production Resumed at Phase 16 Platform

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Production operations has resumed on the Phase 16 Platform of South Pars offshore gas field in the Persian Gulf waters.

The gas platform of South Pars Phase 16 resumed operation after reconstruction of the damaged part of the offshore pipeline of the phase. The platform has a production capacity of 500 million cubic feet of gas.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, the platform of phase 16 of South Pars, which had become non-operational due to damage to part of the offshore pipeline of the phase in November last year, after reconstruction and replacement of part of the gas transmission pipeline, came online on Friday, November 20 with a capacity of 500 million cubic feet (14 million cubic meters).

Alireza Ebadi, Production and Operations Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company, stated that the offshore pipeline of phase 16 of South Pars had broken and stopped production several times, adding: "Due to the possibility of further damage to the pipeline on the platform side due to high pressure and temperature of gas flow, 32 km of the pipeline has been replaced from Phase 16 platform.”
