Gholamreza Amirshaghaghi told Shana reporter about the incident this evening (Thursday, November 19) in Khark Petrochemical Complex: “The liquefied natural gas (LPG) unit of Khark Petrochemical Company caught fire around 5:00 PM today which was contained after about 15 minutes.”
He attributed the fire to depleted hydrocarbons during major repairs to the LPG unit, adding: "Unfortunately, one employee died in the accident, two suffered superficial burns and another employee suffered burns who was sent outside of the island for treatment."
The CEO of Khark Petrochemical Company stated that the LPG unit had became non-operational on Wednesday (November 18) for major repairs, adding: "Currently, the operational processes of Khark Petrochemical Plant are continuing normally and the methanol unit is fully operational."
