Loading Operation of Iranian Catalyst Starts at Sabalan Petchem Plant

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of Sabalan Petrochemical Plant announced the beginning of the loading operation of the locally-made HDS catalyst at the facility.

According to National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Mohammad Zali said: "The catalyst loading operation of this petrochemical project started with loading at the hydrogenation and desulfurization reactors."

He added: "Sabalan Petrochemical Company, due to the impossibility of receiving some of Topsoe’s exclusive catalysts due to the sanctions and despite the possibility of providing similar catalysts from foreign companies in order to support domestic production, ordered the required catalysts from the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC), The Kharazmi Technology Development Company and Sarv Oil and Gas Company and fortunately today with the efforts made local supply of the catalyst is a valuable achievement for the Iranian petrochemical industry.”

The CEO of Sabalan Petrochemical Company noted that the loading operation of HDS catalyst made by Kharazmi Technology Development Company had started, adding the catalyst used in the molybdenum cobalt hydrogenation reactor, converts sulfur in natural gas (feedstock) into hydrogen sulfide and allows the adsorption of these compounds in Reactor 1002 (desulfurization reactor).

Sabalan Petrochemical Company is being built as one of the plans for the second leap of the petrochemical industry on a 7-hectare land in the South Pars Special Economic Zone with the aim of producing 1.6 million tons of methanol annually.
