Zangeneh to Meet with OPEC Sec. Gen., Conference President

VIENNA (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh is scheduled to meet with Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and Venezuela's People's Minister of Petroleum and President of the OPEC Conference in Vienna on Thursday.

Zangeneh’s meeting with OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo and OPEC Conference President Manuel Salvador Quevedo will be held prior to the organization’s 177th meeting in Vienna.

The Iranian Minister of Petroleum left Tehran for Vienna on Thursday morning to join the OPEC Conference.

OPEC meets on Thursday in Vienna followed by a meeting with Russia and others, a grouping known as OPEC+, on Friday.

OPEC+ has curbed supply since 2017 to counter booming output from the United States, which has become the world’s biggest producer.

Next year, rising production in other non-OPEC countries such as Brazil and Norway threaten to add to the glut.
