NIORDC Keen on Completion of Massive Condensate Refinery Project

TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (Shana) – Completion of all three phases of a major gas condensate refinery, Persian Gulf Star Refinery, is a top concern for the National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) under its new CEO, Alireza Sadiqabadi.

Addressing his inaugural session at the helm of NIORDC Sunday evening, the newly-appointed NIORDC managing director said completion of the plant is a must for easing the psychological pressure on the country for ensuring sufficiency in petrol supply.

Once fully operational, the plant will turn Iran into an exporter of gasoline, a dream looming in the country's refining industry for decades.

Sadiqabadi said completion of the refinery is a top priority for him in his new post because it can create a balance between gasoline supply and demand in the Iranian market, already a major NIORDC responsibility.

Environmental considerations in the company's operations is another top issue in Mr. Sadiqabadi's agenda which requires production and distribution of Euro-4 gasoline across the country.

He stressed the refining industry's urgent need to financial support with low interest rates, adding the issue can also be sorted out by tapping foreign resources.

Last week, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh issued a decree appointing Alireza Sadiqabadi as his deputy in oil products refining and distribution affairs.

Holder of the post will also preside over the board of directors of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution and Refining Company.

Previously, Sadiqabadi was the managing director of Siraf Refineries Infrastructure Company.

He replaced Abbas Kazemi who held the post for 4 years.

Sadiqabadi has the experience of being deputy head of the board of directors of Marjan Petrochemical Plant, a member of the board of directors of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, director of downstream projects at Energy Dana Company, managing director and a member of the board of directors at the Institute of International Petroleum and Sustainable Development Studies and Research, managing director of Tavan NIrou Arad Company (developer of windfarms in Jirandeh and Takestan, senior experts at Sazeh Consulting Engineers Co. in projects like Darkhowin, Arvand PVC and 4th Aromatics (Barzouyeh Petrochemical Plant) Nar Gas Pressure Booster Station, Bid Boland Gas Refinery II, increasing the capacity and improving the process of Shazand Arak Refinery, phases 13, 22-24 of South Pars gas field.
