Water Crisis in 4 Provinces, Severe Shortage in 3

TEHRAN -- Based on the latest report on provincial drought for seven months of 2003-04 water year, Sistan - Baluchestan, Hormuzgan, Kerman and Yazd provinces are in water crisis situation while Bushehr, Khorasan and Fars provinces are facing severe shortage of water.

Based on the report, which was drawn up by Basic Water Resources Studies Office of Iran Water Resources Management Company, the water situation of various provinces is classified as critical, severe water shortage, water shortage, water tension, tolerable and normal, and no province could be classified as having a normal situation in terms of water supply. Khuzestan, Ilam, Kermanshah, Lorestan, and Chaharmahal - Bakhtiari provinces are experiencing water tension while other provinces are facing water shortage.
