Energy Consumption Optimization high of Agenda: DOE Chief

TEHRAN, Aug 09 (Shana) -- Head of Iran's Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar says optimization of energy consumption and revision to the pattern of consumption are high on the agenda in Iran.

Addressing the environment factions of the parliament on Monday, Ebtekar said optimization of oil and gas recovery are top on the country's agenda for sustainable development.

Reduction of green gas emissions would mean lower energy-related expenses in the country.

She also called for more cooperation between the DOE and the parliament's environment faction so that MPs would get the latest updates about the department's achievements.

Iran has plans to reduce its greenhouse emissions by 12% by 2030 of which 8% would depend on the total removal of sanctions on Iran and transfer of blocked assets to the country.
