NIOC, Pertamina Ink Oil MoU

TEHRAN, Aug 08 (Shana)—National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday for the latter to carry out studies over two Iranian oil fields.

Ali Kardor, managing director of NIOC, and Dwi Soetjipto, Pertamina's president director, signed the MoU in Tehran.

The deal is aimed at studying the fields of Abteimour and Mansouri for future development.

During the ceremony, Kardor underlined the significance of knowledge transfer to Iran by signature of the MoU, adding this will be the first direct cooperation of NIOC and Pertamina.

"Iran's oil industry has been chiefly focused on knowledge transfer and seek interactions with international companies in the industry," said the NIOC official.

He said NIOC needs to access the latest technologies for fulfilling its development goals and this is a point that international firms must take into account in their interactions with the company.

For his part, Dwi Soetjipto voiced his country's interest to import oil from Iran.
