Speaking at a news conference marking Journalists’ Day, Pezeshkian said gasoline and other energy carriers must be addressed within the government’s broader policies on social justice and resource management.

“Everyone must work together so that if this trend continues and we are unable to produce or purchase enough gasoline, we know how to manage these shortages,” he said.

Pezeshkian said an integrated approach to managing resources and consumption is particularly important during wartime, citing gasoline, electricity, natural gas and water as key areas requiring coordinated management.

He also called on government agencies to reduce spending.

“We in the government must cut our costs,” Pezeshkian said. “Any manager who cannot reduce his costs should receive a negative mark. I should not increase my expenses during a war; I should reduce them.”

The president said all government institutions must reduce expenditures and direct available resources toward supporting those on the front lines.

He criticized consumption patterns that are incompatible with the demands of governance during wartime, saying continued and coordinated decision-making is needed on gasoline, gas, electricity, water, resources and government spending.

Pezeshkian also urged a fair comparison of Iran’s economic conditions with those of other countries, particularly regarding inflation and rising prices. He said inflation and higher prices are also affecting the United States and Europe.

“War naturally brings restrictions, fewer resources and higher costs,” he said. “We will prepare ourselves for any hardship that may arise along this path.”

Pezeshkian said cooperation with the public is a key requirement for managing crises, arguing that greater transparency and dialogue would help build support for difficult decisions.
