IOPTC carries 55bn ton/km of oil and products

TEHRAN April 27(Shana)--Iran's carriage of crude and oil products through pipeline network stood at 55 billion ton-kilometers last year, director of pipelines division at Iran’s Oil Pipelines and Telecommunications Company (IOPTC) Darioush Amirsardari said.

Speaking to Shana, he said the pipeline network of the country, comprising 14 thousand km of pipeline and related facilities, delivered more than 67 percent of total the crude and oil products transported across the country last year.

He continued: "Last year, more than 3 billion liters of gasoline and gasoil were transported through pipeline network," noting carriage of gasoil lowered in comparison to a year earlier due to delivery of higher amounts of gas to power plants but the volume of gasoline carriage by pipeline network went up.

According to him, the company has reinforcement of industrial facilities including coating and changing pipelines on the agenda this year. He said the company has started operations from Tehran facilities by focusing on strengthening oil tanks.

IOPTC’s official predicted that ongoing project related to control and monitoring stations of cathodic protection would be completed this year.
