Reshadat platform hailed as symbol of Iran's oil self-reliance

SHANA (Tehran) – A senior member of Iran's parliamentary Energy Committee has described the installation of the P4 processing platform at the Reshadat oil field as a symbol of the country's self-reliance in the oil industry, saying the project carries strategic significance for Iran's energy economy beyond its technical achievements.

Mohammad Kaab Omeir, deputy chairman of the Parliament's Energy Committee, said the commission supports initiatives that strengthen production and accelerate the development of the country's oil and gas fields. He said the successful installation of the P4 processing platform in the Persian Gulf reflects the engineering expertise, national confidence and capabilities of Iran's domestic oil industry specialists.

He said the commissioning of the P4 platform at the Reshadat field, one of Iran's key offshore oil fields, is expected to add several thousand barrels per day to the country's crude oil production capacity.

Kaab Omeir credited the Ministry of Oil, the National Iranian Oil Company and the country's technical and executive teams for advancing the project under the current administration and bringing it to the installation stage. He said the project demonstrates that while sanctions and external pressure may complicate development, they cannot halt the determination or technical capabilities of Iranian specialists.

He added that Iran's oil industry has proven it can execute major offshore projects without relying on foreign companies, arguing that previous experience has shown that confidence in domestic expertise leads to technological progress and stronger national capabilities.

According to Kaab Omeir, the installation of the P4 platform is more than a technical or industrial milestone. He said it sends a strategic message that complex, large-scale energy projects can be completed through domestic expertise without dependence on other countries.

He also said the future of Iran's oil industry will be shaped by Iranian engineers, describing the Reshadat P4 platform as a notable example of that vision.

The approximately 6,200-ton P4 processing platform, one of Iran's largest oil processing platforms, was successfully installed in the Persian Gulf on Monday, June 22, by Iranian engineers and manufacturers.
