Energy saving takes center stage

SHANA (Tehran) – The Oil Ministry has made energy consumption management a top priority, with coordinated efforts underway alongside the Ministry of Energy to improve efficiency nationwide, the head of the Parliament's Energy Committee said.

Mousa Ahmadi said promoting a culture of responsible energy use is essential to managing and optimizing consumption, adding that recent reductions in electricity and fuel use demonstrate the public's significant role in conserving energy.

He stressed that energy conservation does not mean avoiding consumption altogether, but rather using energy efficiently and responsibly. Ahmadi said public officials should continue encouraging practical measures, noting that simple actions such as turning off unnecessary lights and avoiding the use of high-consumption electrical appliances during peak hours can make a meaningful contribution.

Ahmadi said the Oil Ministry and the Energy Ministry are implementing plans aimed at improving energy efficiency and managing consumption across the country.

He added that increasing energy production alone will not ensure balance between supply and demand if consumption remains excessive, emphasizing that sustainable energy management depends on both production growth and responsible consumption.
