According to IRNA, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump signed the agreement digitally and remotely within a short time frame.

Given Pakistan’s role as a mediator in the diplomatic process that led to the Islamabad understanding, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to sign the memorandum.

Speaking on a television program early Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced that the MoU was signed in both Persian and English.

Baqaei said the signing format was changed from an in-person meeting in Switzerland to a virtual process after consultations over the past 24 hours. He said both sides concluded that the agreement would be better signed directly by the presidents without requiring a face-to-face meeting.

He added that one reason for the decision was to increase the political cost of violating the agreement by having the two leaders sign it directly.

Commenting on the planned follow-up meeting in Switzerland, Baqaei said the next phase of negotiations would begin after the signing of the memorandum. He noted that the Switzerland meeting remains on the agenda, although a final decision will be announced after consultations with mediators.

Meanwhile, CNN, citing a US official, reported that Trump signed the written version of the agreement during a visit to the Palace of Versailles.

Officials from both sides said implementation of the agreement and the next stage of talks will proceed in the coming days under the supervision of mediators.
