NIORDC Expanding Euro-4 Fuel Distribution

TEHRAN June 10 (Shana)--The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) has started distribution of euro-4 gasoline and gasoil in Tehran, Karj and Arak and plans to extend the move to the remainder five mega-cities across the country.

Director for Coordination and Supervision on Production at NIORDC Saeed Mahjobi made the remarks adding as of December 2014 all the gasoline and gasoil distributed in the 8 mega cities of the country will be compatible with euro-4 specifications.
He continued the company had taken necessary initiatives including separating storage tanks and transfer pipes in order to enforce its plan as of next December.
According to the NIORDC’s official, different countries have different environmental standards depending on their climate, the number of vehicles, industries and the elements causing pollution and that is why they develop and put into force different environmental strategies.
Referring to environmental standards in Europe, he said: "European countries at first implemented euro-2 standards but gradually upgraded their standards depending on changes and now are using euro-5 standards."
He concluded the company has focused its efforts on production and distribution of euro-4 generally and euro-5 specifically depending on the country’s climate.
