He added that part of the dams water would be transferred to Tehran. “Apart from supplying part of Tehrans potable water, the dam will supply agricultural water for farmlands in Qazvin province. Operations related to water transfer to Qazvin, water transfer to Tehran and water transfer tunnel of the dam have already been completed,” he said. Taleqan dam is one of the four projects using foreign financial facilities. The project is being financed jointly by Iran and Chinese companies. Taleqan reservoir dam is located south of Alborz Mountains, 120 km northwest of Tehran. Construction of the dam started in March 2001 by Chinas National Water Resources and Power Plants Engineering Company. A power plant with the capacity of 18 MW/h would be also built beside the dam.
