According to the National Iranian Gas Company, CEO Saeid Tavakoli said Thursday, April 16, at a joint meeting with managers from the Fars Province Gas Company and Gas Transmission Operations Region 5 that Fars is “a province on the scale of a country.” He noted that the province experiences four seasons simultaneously and benefits from skilled human resources, rich cultural diversity, historical heritage and a long history of natural gas utilization.
He highlighted current management priorities, including optimizing consumption, promoting a culture of efficiency and leveraging contractor capacity, stressing that these measures must be pursued seriously to maintain network stability and operational readiness in the gas sector.
Gas Supply Plays Key Role in Strengthening Industrial Infrastructure
At the meeting, Mohammadreza Zareian, head of the Fars Province Gas Company, presented a comprehensive report on the province’s gas supply status. He said urban gas coverage in Fars exceeds 99%, while rural coverage stands at 98.8%.
He added that 91% of the province’s industries are connected to the natural gas network, underscoring the sector’s significant role in strengthening industrial infrastructure and boosting economic productivity in Fars.
Zareian also pointed to infrastructure challenges, identifying network reinforcement and improvements to building infrastructure as key priorities. He said precise network assessments, identifying areas requiring upgrades and the swift implementation of corrective projects are essential to ensuring a stable gas supply.
The meeting was held to enhance coordination between gas transmission and distribution sectors. Participants stressed the need for joint planning, consistent follow-up on key issues and continued efforts to improve service quality.
