Gas consumption in Tehran hits record high of over 111 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – Tehran’s gas consumption has surged to an unprecedented level amid a sharp drop in temperatures, the spokesperson for Tehran Province Gas Company said.

Ali-Asghar Navaei said daily gas use in the capital has exceeded 111 million cubic meters, marking a new record as a fresh cold wave grips the region.

According to state broadcaster IRIB, Navaei said the noticeable decline in temperatures in recent days has led to a significant jump in gas consumption across the province. He said combined usage in the residential, commercial and small industrial sectors over the past 24 hours reached more than 111 million cubic meters, an all-time high.

Referring to the arrival of another cold front, Navaei urged citizens to take gas consumption management seriously to help ensure stable energy supplies nationwide, particularly in colder regions.

He stressed that setting indoor temperatures at 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit) in homes and workplaces is the simplest and most effective way to reduce gas consumption.
