Homes, shops consume 78% of Iran’s gas supply as temperatures drop

SHANA (Tehran) – Households, commercial users and small industries accounted for 78% of all natural gas delivered to Iran’s national grid on the final day of autumn, according to official figures.

An analysis of consumption patterns shows that the share of the residential and commercial sectors has risen steadily with colder weather. Data released by the National Iranian Gas Company show that gas use by households, businesses and small industries reached 672 million cubic meters on Sunday, Dec. 21, equal to 78% of the total gas supplied to the national network.

The figures indicate that residential and commercial users continue to dominate gas consumption nationwide, particularly during the cold season, when demand increases. By contrast, other major consumers, including power plants and large industries, accounted for a smaller share of gas deliveries.

The National Iranian Gas Company stressed that effective consumption management in the residential and commercial sectors is critical to maintaining network stability and meeting demand in other sectors. The company urged customers to follow efficient consumption guidelines to help ensure a stable gas supply across the country.
