TEHRAN – Director of technical affairs of the National Iranian South Oil Company noted that the newly discovered Perenj oil field will be commissioned during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2007).

Hassan Shokrollah-Zadeh Behbahani noted that the field has 1.6 billion barrels in place oil reserves and 431 million barrels exploitable oil.

The field was discovered after drilling an exploration well to the depth of 3,050 m by Exploration Department of the National Iranian Oil Company last April.

Shokrollah-Zadeh stated that production capacity of the well is 3,010 barrels per day, which can be increased.

The official noted that since the field is close to Kerenj oil field and production installations are capable of processing 40,000 barrels per day crude oil, there is no need for separate processing installations for the new field.

“We are formulating a production plan for the field and it is expected that production from the said well will be finalized in the next five months while drilling new wells will begin by the end of the year,” he said.

Perenj oil field is located close to Parsi and Kerenj oil fields in south oil regions and will be operated by Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company.
