Emergency Opec Session Ruled Out

MUSCAT — Qatar"s Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamed al Attiyah has ruled out an emergency meeting of Opec ahead of a scheduled ordinary session in September, "as the world is not facing any crisis in supplies."

Attiyah, who was speaking to reporters at the end of the 12th meeting of the Oman-Qatar Joint Committee, said the surge in oil prices in the global market had "no connection with supplies, currently considered as sufficient."  Opec, he added, was prepared to lift output ceiling at any time, should any crisis in supplies emerge.
