Iran’s subsea gas pipeline project unique in Middle East
SHANA (Tehran) – The Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) is for the first time in the Middle East implementing an undersea gas pipeline project in southern waters. A three-kilometer-long 30-inch pipeline is being laid underwater and the related Bandar Abbas-Laft-Gavarzin project is also underway simultaneously. A few countries have up to now carried out similar subsea gas, electricity, and water pipeline installation operations by using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technique. Relying on domestic knowledge-based companies’ expertise, IGEDC is implementing the project. The successful implementation of the offshore project will bring honor to Iran’s gas industry.
