Iran's economic growth up

SHANA (Tehran) - The latest calculations by the Parliament Research Center show that the country's economic growth in Dey (Dec. 21, 2024-Jan. 19, 2025) increased by 1.8% compared to the same month last year, while non-oil economic growth stood at 1.3%.

Having timely and reliable data on gross domestic product (GDP) developments can effectively improve policymaking and provide more accurate monitoring of the macroeconomy.
Due to delays in statistical reporting in this area and repeated requests from members of the  Parliament  to address this shortcoming and provide more timely economic growth data, the Parliament Research Center has worked to establish a computational infrastructure to estimate and present the country's economic growth on a monthly basis as quickly as possible.

The most recent statistics released by the Central Bank of Iran regarding economic growth pertain to the summer of 2024, which show that the country's GDP, both with and without oil, grew by 2.7% and 2.3%, respectively, compared to the same period the previous year.
However, the Statistical Center of Iran has announced economic growth figures for the fall of 2024, which were not considered in this report due to methodological differences.

According to the Parliament Research Center's calculations, the country's economic growth in Dey is estimated at 1.8% compared to the same month last year, while non-oil economic growth is estimated at 1.3%. The center's estimates also indicate that in Dey, compared to the same month last year, the value added in the agricultural sector grew by 3.5%, crude oil and natural gas by 6.5%, while the industry and mining group saw a decline of 1.6%, and the services group grew by 2.7%.
