Abbas Asadrouz, the company’s CEO, praised the project’s execution team and highlighted the Sadra Yard’s potential as a key asset for developing the country’s maritime industries.
He emphasized that transforming Bushehr into a strategic hub for marine repairs in the Persian Gulf could not only reduce foreign currency outflow but also create extensive employment opportunities in the region.
He further noted that optimizing and fully utilizing these capabilities would accelerate regional economic growth and dynamism.
"All industrialized nations have taken this path, and we must learn from their experiences," he said.
Dock and major repairs of advanced ASD tugboats, which have traditionally depended on foreign expertise, are among the critical areas requiring attention.
Asadrouz expressed hope that Bushehr would become the primary center for such repairs, reducing dependence on Arab countries for vessel maintenance.
Overhaul of 15 vessels planned
Mehdi Mirzaei, IOTC’s operations manager, stated that with 28 operational vessels, the company manages one of the country’s largest maritime fleets, playing a crucial role in the crude oil, gas condensate, and petroleum product export chain.
To enhance its fleet, the company has initiated a large-scale project to overhaul 15 vessels, including five barges and 10 boats.
Mirzaei also provided a comprehensive update on the project’s progress and existing challenges, inviting Sadra to participate in upcoming tenders for underwater repairs.
According to the report, IOTC has successfully launched the overhaul and refurbishment of six vessels at Sadra Yard, including two 1,000-ton and 2,000-ton barges and four mooring and transport boats.
The project, aimed at renovation and renewal of international certifications, is expected to be completed within a short 45-day period.
