Petrochemical industry support: A strategic priority for Iran’s economy

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said that the Ministry of Petroleum and NPC are pursuing a problem-oriented, results-driven approach to supporting the petrochemical sector as a leading force in the country's economy.

According to NPC, Omid Shakeri stated Wednesday, at a consultative meeting on challenges facing the petrochemical industry that rebuilding petrochemical facilities damaged in the imposed war must be treated as a priority on the agenda of holding companies and pursued accordingly.

Noting that NPC serves as a bridge between the private sector and the government, he added that Iran's petrochemical industry, through strategic planning and implementation, can maintain stable production while playing an effective role in economic development, meeting the needs of downstream industries, and boosting exports.

Need to Strengthen NPC's Regulatory Role

The secretary-general of the Petrochemical Industry Employers' Association also spoke, saying that as a representative of the private sector, the association enjoys very positive cooperation and engagement with NPC.

Ahmad Mahdavi-Abhari added that he believes NPC's regulatory role, as the government's representative, should be strengthened.

The consultative meeting on petrochemical industry challenges was attended by a number of CEOs from petrochemical holding companies and firms.
