TEHRAN -- Deputy energy minister for electricity affairs said the first unit of Sahand power plant in Bonab has been completed and the second unit will come on-stream before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2004).
Asked about Urmia power plant, Mohammad Ahmadian added that Urmia power plant played a great role in the region and its first phase was supposed to add about 650 MW to country's total power generation capacity.
He said early blueprints considered six 150-MW units for Ardebil power plant, but due to problems regarding fuel supply, the number was cut down to four 150-MW units.
The deputy Minister said the Energy Ministry must coordinate location of new power plants with Oil Ministry because the latter prioritized power plants built near gas pipelines for fuel supply.
Ahmadian added that the Oil Ministry has promised to work for solving fuel problem of Ardebil power plant and construction of the plant would start soon after the problem was solved.
