Imam Khomeini Refinery Starts Production of Eruo-4 Gasoil

TEHRAN Mar 09 (Shana): Imam Khomeini oil refinery in Shazand near Arak city has started production of euro-4 gasoil officially, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining And Distribution Company (NIORDC), Abbas Kazemi, said.

In statements to Shana, Kazemi said that the final phase of Imam Khomeini’s development plan had completed by launching a gasoil unit which would produce 10 million liters of euro-4 gasoil per day with sulfur content less than 50 parts per million (ppm).

He continued that by launching the unit, there is the possibility to remove 50 tons of sulfur from the product which could be supplied to the market separately in solid form.

This amount of euro-4 gasoil along with 11 million liters of gasoil with similar quality are being produced by Shahid Tondgouyan oil refinery on a daily basis will meet more than 20 percent of the country’s needs to the product and will reduce significantly air pollution in mega cities of the country, the official noted.

Development plan of Imam Khomeini oil refinery has been designed in a way that will raise refining capacity from 170 thousand barrels to 250 thousand barrels per day.

The refinery delivers 16 million liters of clean gasoline and 10 million liters of euro-4 gasoil per day to market each day. The upgrading plan has enabled the refinery to remove 600 tons of sulfur per day from its gasoline and gasoil products.
