Speaking during a visit by the Majlis Energy Commission MPs to the Island, Zirakchianzadeh said the island was linked to the main production and consumption centers through about 900 kilometers of pipeline including a 147 km pipeline to Salman gas field, a 313 km pipeline to Assaluyeh, a 67 km pipeline to Mobarak platform and a 80 km one to Sharejeh.

 He added Siri region covers Dena, Sivand, Esfand, Alvand and Mobark oil fields as well as Nosrat oil field, located 28 km south of the island as a shared oil field.

With 5.6 km length and 3 km width the island is mainly host of IOOC workforce and naval force personnel.

The MPs expressed satisfaction with the visit to Siri and Lavan islands where they said the visit made them more familiar with the challenges of the oil industry in the region. Ali Marvi a member of energy commission said oil industry activities are important for Majlis and that is why the body has taken practical steps to allocate adequate budget to the sector this year.
