TEHRAN – The first and biggest production line for galvanized and color sheets in the Middle East was inaugurated by first vice president, Mohammad Reza Aref, at Isfahans Mobarakeh Steel Complex on April 18.

Both projects will create 300 direct and 8,000 indirect jobs. Making the production line operational cost 78 million marks and 115 billion rials, while building the power plant cost 30 million dollars. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Industries and Mines Eshaq Jahangiri and a number of the ministrys high-ranking officials. Galvanized iron is used for manufacturing home appliances, space equipment, parts for agricultural machinery, auto parts, while color sheets are used by construction industries and to make home appliances as well as by transportation industry. Aref told reporters on the sidelines of the ceremony that Iran was dependent on other countries for its needed galvanized and color sheets, but “the production line that opened today would meet 70 percent of the countrys need to galvanized steel and 100 percent of domestic requirements of color steel.” He hoped that the country would achieve self-sufficiency in steel industry in the near future.
