Active wells at Kupal oil field produce 106 million cubic feet (3 million cu. m.) of accompanying gas and 101,000 barrels of oil per day.
A report published by the Public Relations Department of Maroun Oil and Gas Production Company announced that, so far, 40 wells have been drilled at the field, 27 of which are active.
Kupal oil field is located 80 km east of Ahvaz and is operated by Maroun Oil and Gas Production Company. The field contains Asmari and Bangestan reservoirs.
Asmari is the main oil reservoir for Maroun Oil and Gas Production Company, which produces more than 508,000 barrels of oil per day. The company is planning to raise the figure to 585,000 barrels per day.
To stabilize the reservoirs pressure, about 1.2 billion cu. ft. (34 million cu. m.) of gas is injected into the reservoir through the Maroun gas injection post.
Bangestan is another reservoir of the field producing 11,000 barrels of oil per day through 12 wells. Its output is expected to hit 25,000 barrels per day after the completion and inauguration of a desalination unit.
