TEHRAN – Crude oil production from Resalat, Reshadat, Balal and Salman oil fields stands at 104,000 barrels per day and the oil is carried to Lavan island for treatment.
Head of production affairs of Lavan region told reporters that part of oil treatment is carried out on platforms and another part is done by onshore installation in Lavan Island.
Mahmoud Ebrahimi said oil installations of Lavan island include two 36-inch pipelines, a buoy and a 16-inch pipeline which carried crude oil from Resalat, Reshadat, Balal, and Salman oil fields to tanker ships.
He noted that Salman oil field has started production since 38 years ago and it has been initially designed to yield 250,000 barrels per day crude oil.
He noted that the field was rebuilt in 1991 and restarted production after installation of the new platform.
Ebrahimi noted that gas production from the field will start at the end of the next Christian year and it will send 600 million cu. ft. (500 million cu. m.) gas to Sirri island en route to Mobarak platform in Abu Dhabi.
He stated that two 30-inch pipeline will carry gas from Salman field to Sirri island, adding, “The field is currently producing 65,000-66,000 barrels per day crude oil.”
The official noted that Iran is very sensitive about production from the field, because it is shared with the United Arab Emirates.
He also stated that Reshadat platform is an old platform located 90 km from Lavan island and has not yet been reconstructed.
Ebrahimi said that production from Balal oil field has started four years ago and five wells of the field are currently producing 24,000 barrels per day crude oil without water injection.
