Private Power Plant Work Delayed

TEHRAN – Inauguration of the first-ever private plant constructed in Iran has been postponed, an Iranian official said.

Hamid Zargarpour, managing-director of MAPNA International, said the Chehelsotoun plant cannot come online before its first unit accomplishes a security test. He said emergence of problems was a natural phenomenon in such projects. He, however, said the project may come on-stream up to two months. Chehelsotoun incorporates six 159-megawatt power generation units. The project is constructed under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme.
