Increased Petrol Price, a Baseless Rumor: Official

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) denied rumors that the price of fuels, including gasoline, has increased in Iran amid bulging domestic consumption in summer.

Speaking in a radio interview, Mohammad Reza Mousavikhah said, “The rumors concerning increase price of energy carriers in the country are baseless.”

“Unfortunately, some people spread rumors in social media which causes worries in public opinion,” he added.

He noted that the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum would directly inform the general public about any fuel price policies.

“So far, there have been no discussions as to increase fuel prices or rationing it in the government cabinet or the parliament,” the official went on to add.

He also emphasized that there were no shortages in terms of foreign exchange and energy sources in the country, adding: "Currently, the status of the stockpiles of petroleum products, such as gasoline, gasoil, and so on, is very good in the country.”
