Export Corridor to Facilitate Mahshahr Petchem Trade

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iran is launching a special corridor to facilitate export of petrochemicals from Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE).

Speaking to NIPNA, Managing Director of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) Omid Shahidinia said talks have been held with Iran's Customs Administration as well as the Ports & Maritime Organization for establishing the corridor which will take a few months before it is operational.

He added: "The main advantage of this export corridor is reducing export bureaucracy and hence minimizing the time wasted at export terminal by shipments."

The official said the corridor was not expected to enhance the volume of exported items but would serve as an infrastructure for future projects.

He further said that the rail network would also be used for exporting petrochemicals to such countries as Turkey and Iraq as well as CIS countries.
