Iran to Boost Oil Production from North Yaran Field

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The first downhole pump (ESP) of Well No. 14 of North Yaran joint oilfield has been installed to ramp up crude oil production of the field.

The operation is aimed at maintaining and enhancing production of the brown field which is shared by Iran and Iraq. The well is expected to be revived by the operation within the next 10 days and start production.

This is the first time that such a pump is being installed at a well at West Karoon Region.

Ten other such pumps are to be installed at various wells of the field by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20, 2019.

Iran is operating North Yaran for the production of 30,000 b/d of crude oil. Production from the field began on November 17, 2016.

The oil field is located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, approximately 130 km west of Ahwaz, near the border Iran and Iraq, and is adjacent to the Hawizeh Marshes.
