Iran South Pars Gas Recovery at 1.2 bcm Last Year

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) said a total of roughly 1.24 billion cubic meters of natural gas had been recovered from the joint South Pars Gas Field over the course of the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday on the sidelines of the annual Iran Oil and Gas Show in Tehran, Mohammad Meshkinfam said POGC is planning to launch 5 offshore platforms in the first half of the current calendar year at South Pars, shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

He said Iran’s gas production capacity from the field currently stands at 585 million cubic meters per day, adding 252 wells had so far been spudded at the offshore gas field.

The CEO further added that Iran could recover a total of 1.24 bcm of natural gas from the field during the previous calendar year.
