CNG Project up for Grabs

TEHRAN (Shana) -- An Iranian CNG official says there are many investment opportunities in compressed natural gas (CNG) projects in Iran.

Addressing an energy conference, Director of CNG Projects at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Hamid Ghasemi said Iran currently consumes 20 million cubic meters of CNG per day, adding the best investment opportunities are available in the industry.

"By conservation of gas domestically, we can be optimistic that exports of CNG will be developed," he said.

Ghasemi said CNG is a clean source of energy which reduces emission of pollutants, adding Iraq is a good market for developing the CNG industry of Iran.

Also addressing the conference, Secretary General of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber Hamid Hosseini said oil, gas and petrochemical companies from Iran can join energy projects in Iraq.

"Iraq is a great market in many sectors including energy and the two countries can cooperate in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and CNG as well," he added.
