Addressing a gathering of senior petrochemical executives in Mahshahr Economic Zone on Sunday, Habibollah Bitaraf, deputy petroleum minister for engineering, research and technology, said the petrochemical industry has the potential to maximize profitability of oil industry which must be seriously considered by decision makers of the sector.

He described the industry as a leading sector in the country, adding generating any less value added from hydrocarbon reserves than what is possible of them would be betraying the rights of future generations.

Bitaraf was in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran, to attend the first Conference of Excellence in Management of Properties in Petrochemical Industry that will be held on Monday, February 26 in the city.

He will also attend a ceremony to launch three petrochemical projects at Maroon Petrochemical Plant.
