Iran Exports 250mcm of Gas to Armenia in 8 Months

TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (Shana) -- Iran has bartered a total of 250 million cubic meters of natural gas with Armenia for power in the first 8 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

Tehran and Yerevan signed a gas-for-power barter deal in 2009 based on which Iran exports an average of a million cubic meters per day of gas to Armenia in exchange 3.2 kw/h of power.

Speaking to Shaha, Saeid Tavakoli, Managing Director of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC), said last year Iran sent exactly 365 mcm of gas to neighboring Armenia based on the deal.

He said Iran has the capacity of exporting up to 2.3 bcm/year of gas to Armenia.
