Iran Gas Exports to Iraq at 1.2bcm

TEHRAN, Nov. 20 (Shana) – Iran has so far exported 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to neighboring Iraq.

Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Transmission Company (NIGTC) Saeid Tavakoli said Iran is currently exporting 7 to 25 million cubic meters of gas to Iraq on a daily basis and has so far exported 1.2 bcm of the item to the Arab country through Naft Shahr Gas Terminal.

Iran began gas exports to Iraq in June.

The country exports gas to Iraq through Naftshahr as well as Operation District 7 and 1 gas terminals.

Tavakoli also voiced Iran's readiness to export gas to Iraq's Basra.

"The Ahwaz-Shalamcheh export pipeline is filled with gas and gas exports to Basra will begin as soon as the Iraqi side indicates readiness to receive the item. Based on our deal, we can export up to 25 mcm/d to the city," he added.
