South Pars Gas Production hits 9bcm in 7 Months

TEHRAN, Nov. 08 (Shana) – The natural gas output of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field reached 9.4 billion cubic meters in the first 7 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

The refining facilities of the South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) processed 7 bcm of the gas during the period for injection into the national gas trunkline.

According to Abodolrahman Salehi, an SPGC official, 7.5 bcm was gas was sweetened at SPGC during the 7 months.

He said the complex also supplied 1.336m tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 114 million barrels of gas condensate and 1.3 million tons of ethane during the same period.

The sulfur output of the field stood at 290,000 tons.

Iran shares South Pars with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters. The fields is touted as the world's biggest natural gas reserve.
