South Azadegan Output Capacity to Double

TEHRAN, May 09 (Shana|) -- The production capacity of South Azadegan oil field is expected to double to 160,000 b/d by next March, the chief developer of the project said.

Touraj Dehqani told reporters at Iran Oil Show that the Azadegan project was a clear manifestation of economic resilience instructed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He said that South Azadegan would see its output rise about 25,000 b/d in one month, adding that Iranian contractors have been involved in the development project over the past three years.

“In Phase 1 of development of this field, achieving 320,000 b/d output is planned. In Phase 2, the planned output would depend on the results of extraction in Phase 1,” said Dehqani.

South Azadegan, located 120 kilometers from the oil-rich city of Ahvaz in southwest Iran, is shared by Iran and Iraq.
