Iran Eyes 16 ml/d Boost to Petrol Output

TEHRAN, March 06 (Shana) -- Iran says it will add at least 16 million liters to its gasoline output in the near future once new refining projects come online across the country.

Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company (NIOPRDC) Abbas Kazemi said on Monday that the amount will be added to the country’s daily gasoline production by the time phase I of the gasoline unit of Persian Gulf Star Refinery becomes operational and the development projects of Bandar Abbas and Lavan refineries reach fruition.
Addressing a gathering of fuel distribution managers and policy makers, the official said production of petrol will start at Persian Gulf Star Refinery during spring and its production will become sustained by the end of spring.
“During next year’s winter, the second phase of the facility will come on-stream,” he added.
Kazemi, who is also deputy petroleum minister in refining and distribution affairs, further said more than 80% of Iran’s gasoline output will meet Euro-4 requirements by the end of the next Iranian calendar year of 1396 which starts on March 21.
