Abbas Kazemi, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company, said on Wednesday that inauguration of the phase as well as a new gasoline unit of the facility will double its euro-4 gasoline output.
He said the first furnace of the gasoline unit of the refinery was operational on January 31.
Kazemi also expressed optimism that the unit will become fully operational by the end of the year.
Once operational, phase I of the refinery will turn Iran into an exporter of gasoline.
Iran is currently producing 61 million liters of gasoline per day of which 25 to 28 ml/d is Euro-4 petrol.
