Khademian told Shana that the fire had erupted around the 801 reactor of the DC unit of Kimia Company and thanks to timely presence of the firefighters, it was contained.
He said the fire had happened late night Thursday and was put off 20 minutes later.
The official said the incident left no fatality but limited scale damage.
He noted that the reason behind the fire was leakage of the EDC substance and more study on the issue is underway.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex has three subsidiaries: Bandar Imam Refining Production Company, Kimia Bandar Imam and Besparan Bandar Imam.
It is located in Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone, yielding such products as ethane, propane, butane, pentane, ethylene, pyroxylin gasoline, crude resid, benzene, Xylene, rafinite, heavy aromatics and p-Xylene.
