NIOC's IJOEM Admitted to ISI

TEHRAN, July 19 (Shana) – The International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (IJOEM), which is the official publication of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Health Organization on Occupational and Environmental Medicine, has newly been accepted by the ISI journal .

Head of the Health and Medication Education and Research Department  in Fars Oil Industry Farokh Habibzadeh told Shana that the IJOEM has been admitted to the ISI.

Habibzadeh said his office had introduced change of the health category as a DALY index and the WHO confirmed the idea.

The disability-adjusted life year (DALY) is a measure of overall disease burden, expressed as the number of years lost due to ill-health, disability or early death. It was developed in the 1990s as a way of comparing the overall health and life expectancy of different countries.

Only 11 out of about 450 Iranian medicine journals have been given index in the MEDLINE and only three have been entered into the data base. The IJOEM is one of the three journals to have had the privilege.
