Forouzan Platform 32% Complete

TEHRAN, July 02 (Shana) -- Construction of the platform of Forouzan offshore oilfield is 32% complete and the project will gain 61% progress by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20 2017.

Construction of the 7,800-ton structure began under the previous administration by a Korean developer but is now being built by the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC).

The project's slow progress, the type of its contract with the Korean contractor, and mismanagement of the project under the previous Iranian administration were the reasons for the project to be recommissioned to an Iranian developer, manager of Khorramshahr Yards once said.

In March, the structure, with 25% progress, was delivered to Iran from Korea and has since made 7% progress.

Once operational, the platform will double the oilfield's crude oil output to bring it to 80,000 b/d.
