"Qualifications of the gasoline which is being imported to the country comply with the euro-4 standards," said Mohsen Qamsari, director for international affairs at National Iranian Oil Company.
As he said, the imported cargoes have an octane content of 95 which is 3 degrees higher than euro-4 standard.
He also said the benzene content of the gas is at most 1% while its sulfur, aromatic and olefin contents stand at respectively about 50, 35 and 18 PPM.
Qamsari's remarks came in response to certain assertions that Iran is importing low-quality gasoline cargoes which has caused the recent suffocating air pollution in major Iranian cities.
He said the country has also rejected some gas cargoes for not living up to the euro-4 qualifications.
