Utility Units of Persian Gulf Star Refinery Nearly Ready

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (Shana) – The utility section of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery is complete and will be presently inaugurated, operator of the project said.

Mohammad Ali Dadvar told Shana that 8 electro pumps, each with a capacity to pump 2,000 cubic meters along with other equipment have been completely installed and tested and are ready for operation.

Besides, the power line to the refinery which can feed the facility with 25 megawatts of power per hour is also finished and will be fully operational within a week.

In November, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said that fulfillment of the first phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery project will bring Iran to self-sufficiency in gasoline production.

Persian Gulf Star Refinery processes 5 to 12 million liters a day of gasoline which is tantamount to its phase I targeted output, manager of the refinery Ahmad Adib said on Saturday, adding that Iran will become self-sufficient in gasoline production once the project's first phase comes online.

The refinery is owned by Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Investment Company (49%), Oil Industry Pension Fund (33.1%) and National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) (17.9%).

Once fully operational, the refinery would produce 36 ml/d of high-octane gasoline and 14 ml/d of gasoil. Other products include 4 ml/d of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 3 ml/d of jet fuel and 130 tons a day of sulfur.

Once the project's first phase becomes fully operational, other phases will come online each after 4 months.
