High Energy Use Pollutes Air

TEHRAN Dec 09 (Shana)--The head of the Department of the Environment has said that high energy consumption in Iran is leading to air pollution.

“Energy consumption in Iran is five times higher than in developed countries and the result is higher air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions,” Masoumeh Ebtekar said.

She said that fossil energies are posing a major challenge to the environment, adding that they need to be replaced with renewable energies.
