Shiraz Refinery Boosting Processing Capacity

TEHRAN Nov 12 (Shana)--Shiraz oil refinery plans to boost its processing capacity by 120 thousand barrels per day after getting necessary environmental permissions, managing director of Shiraz Oil Refining Company Abdolrahim Shamsaddini said.

Speaking to Shana, Shamsaddini said that the project is scheduled to come online in a 40-month period and gas condensate from Assaluyeh (onshore installations of South Pars gas field) will provide necessary feedstock for additional capacity.

He estimated the project will be implemented by the private sector with two billion dollars in investment.

According to the official, the refinery also needs to design new units to process gas condensate.

Shiraz oil refinery processes 60 thousand barrels of oil per day now and takes its input from Sarvestan, Aghar and Gachsaran oil fields.

The refinery, which started operation in 1973, produces 2.4 million liters of gasoline on a daily basis.
